Chamber Event Informs, Connects Through Innovations 2013

Prince William, Virginia – With interactive exhibits, workshops, a keynote address by Virginia Delegate Rich Anderson, and of course, robots, last week’s Innovations Science & Tech Expo offered something for everyone.  Nearly 300 people came out to the Continental Event Center for this Prince William Chamber of Commerce event showcasing the many innovative companies located in greater Prince William.

“[Innovations was] a very well run and attended event.  I met some great attendees and vendors there and made many connections,” said Chris Rajca, Director of Business Development for V2 Systems.

Attendees split their time between networking as they visited the 30 or so exhibit tables and attended workshops on topics such as cyber security and Windows 8.  A robotics teams from Manassas Park Middle School was also on hand, demonstrating their creations.

“There is something for everyone.  We bring the community together, letting them connect with the businesses behind the innovations taking place in greater Prince William.  It’s also a chance to learn about new tech trends and services to simplify life at home and in the workplace,” said Chamber President & CEO Rob Clapper.

“Our Chamber here has been a pacesetter for STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering and Math] in the state,” said Delegate Anderson during his address, noting that the Prince William Chamber hosted the first Northern Virginia Telework Summit and has an active Science & Technology Council.

Clapper noted that the Chamber’s Science & Technology Council spent months working behind the scenes to make the event a success.  He also thanked the sponsors who helped to make the event possible, including the Prince William Times, Lockheed Martin, Logis-Tech, Northern Virginia Community College, University of Maryland University College and the Washington Business Journal.  The Prince William Times celebrated the launch of its new community newspaper with a ribbon cutting during Innovations.

Additional sponsors include SharpComm, Northwest Federal Credit Union and Christ Chapel Academy.  To view a list of exhibitors, event pictures and video clips from workshops, visit pwtechexpo.com.
